Lapa Station gets new mall
The national and international recognition of Andrade Mendonça’s quality and technology in the construction of shopping malls has led the company to undertake another project in the sector. The current challenge is to build a new mall at one of the largest urban public transport terminals in Brazil: Lapa Station, in Salvador (Bahia).
Over 450,000 patrons use the station each day, and the projects are to be carried out taking into consideration the arrival and departure of hundreds of buses throughout the day. Only the same company that built Salvador Shopping without impacting Salvador’s “nervous system” could possibly accomplish this mission seamlessly.
And that’s what was considered by Nova Lapa Consortium, responsible for running the station, when hiring Andrade Mendonça for this new challenge. Designed with five floors, stores, movie theaters, a food court, escalators, elevators and stairs, the development is already under construction. With completion expected in 22 months, the reinforcements of the foundation and underground posts are being finalized.
